Twitter is taking the internet by storm, which makes it one of the vital tools for digital marketing. Twitter’s simple strategy of sharing thoughts in 140 characters has been patronized by millions of users worldwide, including local and international brands.
Twitter is the easiest way to get honest reactions for a product, brand, or a service. If you garner a huge following, you can also get more digital presence by creating a trending topic. But all these would not be possible without a great profile to start with. Thus, this week, we’re giving you an easy 4-step instruction as to how to create that great, trending Twitter profile!
1. Create a professional looking username.
We share your dilemma: it’s so hard finding a unique username for your business that isn’t taken yet. Still, try your hardest to come up with something near.
Example: If @alitaharvey was taken by a stranger with the same name as I do, I’d probably go with @AlitaHarveyR (Alita Harvey-Rodriguez) rather than @alitaharvey_xoxo. I do not think my clients would be serious in dealing digital marketing matters with me if I have the second one as my Twitter username. Get my point?
2. Use a happy profile photo.
Let me get some things clear: For personal accounts, when I say “happy”; I do not mean you use your “Friday nights” photo, no matter how good your angle there was. Also, ponies do not count! My suggestion is that you use a photo reflecting a positive vibe: a photo of you with your best smile. A happy photo instantly gives the perception that they are up to something good if they interact with you.
For brands, use something that would be familiar to your readers: a brand endorser or your very own logo. This way, it will be easier to spot you on their feeds.
3. Work on your bio.
That small blurb about you which Twitter calls your “bio” is just as important as your name and photo. When you follow people, they would usually check your profile and read your bio to get an idea of who you are and if you are follow-worthy. I’m pretty sure you would not want to lose a possible lead, so turn your bio into a pitch! Include the important stuff: your work, expertise, years of service, and a fun fact about you (Again, fun equates to positive vibes). Don’t forget to add your website, in case they want to know more about you.
4. Create an appealing background image.
Twitter’s background image is okay, but you’ve got to admit it’s pretty boring and lousy to have that space not maximised for your own good. The best way to make the most out of that space on the left side of your profile is to create a background image which features the highlight of your career or your contact information.
